The 2nd International Conference on Sensing, Measurement & Data Analytics in the era of Artificial Intelligence (ICSMD 2021) was successfully held in Nanjing

On October 21-23, the 2nd International Conference on Sensing, Measurement & Data Analytics in the era of Artificial Intelligence (ICSMD 2021) was successfully held in Nanjing, China. The conference was hosted by the School of Instrument Science and Engineering, Southeast University, and co-organized by Xi'an Jiaotong University, South China University of Technology, China University of Mining and Technology, and Jiangsu Instrument and Control Society. It also received the technical supports from IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society.


ICSMD 2021 aims to discuss the latest theoretical technology progress and future development of Sensing, Measurement and Data Analysis in the era of artificial intelligence. The conference was held in a hybrid mode (offline & Online) with more than 160 participants from universities and research institutes participated physically.


The conference Opening Ceremony was presided over by Professor Chengyu Liu, the Conference Local Committee Chair and Vice Dean (executive) of the School of Instrument Science and Engineering of Southeast University. Professor Hui Ding, the Conference General Chair and Chief Professor of Southeast University, Professor Aiguo Song, the Conference General Chair and Chief Professor of Southeast University, and Professor Ruqiang Yan, the Conference Technical Program Chair, from Xi'an Jiaotong University, have delivered their welcoming speeches respectively to welcome all the participants for their attendance. The leadership of the School of Instrument Science and Engineering, Secretary Jun Wang, Vice Dean Liye Zhao and Xuefen Zhu, and Professor Xiyuan Chen also attended the conference. 



Professor Chengyu Liu presided the Opening Ceremony. Professor Hui Ding, Professor Aiguo Song and Professor Ruqiang Yan delivered their welcoming speeches at the conference.

The Conference Plenary sessions featured four keynote speeches delivered by Professor Weiming Shen, Fellow of Canadian Academy of Engineering, Huazhong University of Science and Technology (China) on “Agents, IoT, Big Data, and Smart Systems”; Professor Mohamad SAWAN, Fellow of Canadian Academy of Engineering, Westlake University (China) on “Wearable and Implantable Bioelectronic Devices to Diagnosis and Treat Vital Functions”; Professor Yong Yan, Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering,University of Kent (UK) on “Multiphase Flow Metering and Combustion Process Monitoring through Data Driven Modelling” and Professor Shiwu Zhang, University of Science and Technology of China (China) on “Study on the Motion Control of SMA-Based Soft Actuator”. The impressive speeches have inspired heated discussions and in-depth exchanges among representatives and speakers.



Professor Weiming Shen (Huazhong University of Science and Technology), Professor Mohamad SAWAN (Westlake University), Professor Yong Yan (University of Kent) and Professor Shiwu Zhang (University of Science and Technology of China) delivered their Keynotes Speeches respectively at the conference.

Besides the wonderful Keynote Speeches, 59 oral presentations in 12 parallel Oral sessions were also delivered with fruitful results, and 45 Posters were displayed with vast information.


At the Closing Ceremony, Professor Ruqiang Yan (Xi'an Jiaotong University) announced the Winners of Best Papers, Best Presentation and Best Poster Awards. Professor Chengyu Liu (Southeast University) and Professor Weihua Li (South China University of Technology) presented the Certificates to the four Winners and congratulated them for their achievements.

ICSMD 2021 has played a positive role for national and international researchers, scholars to exchange knowledge, ideas, technological innovation in the fields of Intelligent Sensing, Measurement and Control Technology, and Measurement Data Processing. It also promoted the application of Artificial Intelligence Technology in the field of Sensing and Measurement.
